We are an AVEDA Concept Salon offering complete hair care services, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing and makeup consulting by our licensed professionals.

Hair - Our complete hair care services range from a  simple shampoo & style, to a full service haircut, to complete hair coloring,  highlighting, perming and re-texturizing services. We spend the extra time needed to make sure your hair suits your style and is in better condition.

Haircut - Our basic haircut is so much more than that. First, a relaxing sensory journey is added to your shampoo. Once clean, your hair is cut to your specifications and then styled so that you look your best when you step out the door. Our stylists will also recommend the Aveda products that are best for your hair care at home.

Locks of Love Haircut - Locks of Love is an organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children with long-term medical hair loss. We must be able to cut at least 10 inches of hair in order to donate to Locks of Love. If you decide to donate your hair, your haircut is free!

Relaxing Scalp Massage - A 20 minute massage and stimulation of the scalp that is a great benefit for dry scalp or for boosting hair growth. Your stylist will use a deep conditioner suitable for your hair type. A blow dry style finishes your service. Approximate time: 45 minutes

We take our time and add in some luxurious extras so that your nail service is an oasis of time out from the hustle and bustle of daily living. At the end of each service we encourage you to go back into the world looking your best. Ask one of our staff to assist you at the makeup bar to freshen your lipstick, blush, and eye shadow.

Manicure with Caribbean Hand Facial- Your hands are treated to a Caribbean Body Scrub, Warming Mask, hand massage using the Caribbean Body Creme, a paraffin dip, and ends with Flower Water Toning Spritz. Rejuvenating Facial - Following a consultation to determine your exact skin type and needs, our professionals cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturize with products selected for your skin type. A luxurious facial massage adds relaxation. A mask is applied along with steam to create a healthy glow. While your mask is setting, enjoy a soothing hand massage. Detoxification is the benefit of facial work and our experts add lymphatic stimulation to this facial for your good health. You will be given written instructions for home skin care following your facial.

Aveda Refining Facial - This is the equivalent to what most salons are calling micro-dermabrasion; but without the pain, redness, flakiness, and even scarring. Your session begins with an herbal foot soak while your esthetician consults with you to determine your skin type and specific needs. A special professional line product line is used for every part of this facial. Lymphatic stimulation; foot massage; custom mask; steam; and lots of extras are part of this special facial. You will be given written instructions for home skin care following your facial. For the dedicated person who wants extraordinary results, a series of four treatments is recommended.

Pulse Light Facial - Following your consultation, your esthetician begins with lymphatic stimulation. Cleansing, exfoliation, toning, and moisturizing are performed. Then we use a revolutionary pulse light therapy device to reduce lines and imperfections, leaving the face more plump and full. It is most beneficial when a series of 6-8 treatments are received 10 days apart. The results are amazing. You will be given written instructions for skin care at home and use of makeup following your facial.

Makeup - Look great for your special occasion! We offer a makeup consultation that includes testing and applying makeup to determine the best look for you. You will also receive a complete Purescription which records the products that are best for your skin tone and type. We also offer a basic makeup application where you pick the colors and we professionally apply them for you.

Waxing - Our waxing services include: lip, chin, eyebrows, legs, bikini (basic or french only), underarms, chest, and back. All waxing services include skincare after the service. It is recommended that you come clean, trimmed and exfoliated for all waxing services.

We also offer Natural Health courses,  20 hour courses with a certificate upon completion.  These classes are for fun and enrichment, they are a wonderful complement to massage training or for anyone interested in natural health.

Massage Therapy:  We offer a variety of massage and bodywork techniques by certified professional therapists.  Below you will find descriptions of the various massage modalities we have to offer.

Swedish Massage

One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

Chair Massage

Also called on-site and seated massage, chair massage includes techniques that provide fully-clothed seated massage, bodywork and somatic therapies to clients, generally in a corporate or business setting. Practitioners utilize shiatsu and/or Swedish techniques.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body arrangement called the craniosacral system. Developed by John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., this manual therapy enhances the body's natural healing processes and has proven effective in treating a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth - which make up the cranium - down to the sacrum or tailbone. Since this system influences the development and function of the brain and spinal cord, any imbalance or dysfunction in the craniosacral system could cause sensory, motor or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities, and other dysfunctions of the central nervous system. Craniosacral therapy encourages the body's natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of stress and enhance health and resistance to disease. The craniosacral therapy practitioner uses a light touch to assist the natural movement of fluid within the craniosacral system. Therapists generally use only 5 grams of pressure, roughly the weight of a nickel, to test for restrictions in various parts of the craniosacral system. It's often possible for the evaluation alone to remove the restriction and allow the system to correct itself.

Hot Stone Massage

Stones of all shapes and sizes and varying temperatures, ranging from zero to 140 degrees, are used during a hot stone massage to elicit physical healing, and mental relaxation.  Warm stones encourage the exchange of blood and lymph and provide soothing heat for deep-tissue work. Stones are placed in varying positions on the body for energy balancing or may be used by the therapist for specific trigger-point work, or as tools for soothing long strokes.

Lymph-drain Massage

The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing. This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that cleanses the connective tissue of inflammatory materials and toxins, enhances the activity of the immune system, reduces pain and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions and facilitate the emergence of emotional patterns and belief systems that are no longer relevant or are impeding progress. First, an assessment is made by visually analyzing the human frame, followed by the palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain and headaches.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity therapy is based on universal principles of energy - attraction, repulsion and neutrality. The interrelation of these principles forms the basis for every aspect of life, including our experience of health, wellness and disease. With this understanding, polarity therapy addresses the interdependence of body, mind and spirit, the importance of relationships, and the value of creating a way of life in harmony with nature. Founded by Austrian-born naturopath Dr. Randolph Stone in the mid-1920s, polarity therapy is a clothes-on, non-invasive system complementing existing systems with an integrated, holistic model. Polarity is based on the belief that positive and negative poles exist in every cell. The body is gently manipulated to balance the positive and negative energies. In addition to physical manipulation, blockages and toxins are eliminated through a cleansing diet and simple exercises. Treatments are suggested in a series of four.

Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage

Performed by a trained perinatal specialist, many methods of massage and somatic therapies are both effective and safe prenatally, and during labor and postpartum periods of women's pregnancies. Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Skilled, appropriate touch facilitates labor, shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology and emotions of the new mother, and may help her to bond with and care for her infant. Specialized, advanced training in the anatomy, physiology, complications, precautions and contraindications is part of the advanced training all of our perinatal massage therapists.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") is the combining of universal energy with individual energy to open pathways of healing. It teaches that disease is not separate from the body; it is the body out of balance. Reiki is a form of bodywork that most people find relaxing and revitalizing at the same time. It is a gentle therapy that is suitable for everyone regardless of age or level of health. The person receiving Reiki lies on a massage table, fully clothed. The practitioner places his or her hands on certain body parts, avoiding private areas, applying very little pressure. Reiki does not hurt. It is often experienced as a sensation of heat, tingling, cold or waves of energy. People receiving Reiki relax deeply and often go to sleep. After Reiki sessions people have reported pain reduction or cessation as well as a sense of well being and clarity, calmness and peacefulness.

Reflexology

Reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the foot, hands and ears that correspond to other parts of the body. Sometimes referred to as zone therapy, this bodywork involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the body's energy flow to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance in physical function. Developed in the United States in the early 1900s, this technique is used today to reduce pain, increase relaxation and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. It is especially useful in stress-related illness and emotional disorders. Reflexology is also convenient in cases where an area of the body is traumatized or diseased to the extent that direct manipulation is not appropriate.
