Best Massage

Situated on a serene wooded lot off the banks of Blue Star Highway, Spring Renewal Holistic Wellness Center offers only the best when it comes to massage, whether its the service, the products or the environment. Spring Renewal was a vision that owners Jacob and Freda Brodbeck had years ago; to offer a tranquil surrounding to those looking to escape the hassels and pressures of everyday life and emerging recharged and, well, renewed. "It's an oasis out of the fray. The massage starts as soon as you pass the gates onto the wooded lot, full of nature and trees," Freda says.

While being in one of the fastest-growing industries, Spring Renewal prides itself with the fact that they believe a massage isn't just about steps, or procedure. It's a connection between the patient and the massage therapist. "We set the bar," Freda says. "We strive for and deliver excellence in offering a place where people and therapists can work together to create and maintain healthy and renewed lifestyles." Including the Brodbecks, Spring Renewal employs six full time massage therapists as well as an on-call staff when business picks up. Some of the services offered are a four-hand massage, which requires two therapists to equally work and mimic massage to maintain balance. Also offered are a hot stone massage, lymph drain massage, prenatal/pregnancy massage, and the ever popular and most commonly taught Swedish massage, a vigorous treatment created to energize the body by stimulating circulation.

Spring Renewal also offers in-depth training in the field of massage therapy. The teaching facility, which opened in 2001, requires students to accumulate 600 hours of formal education prior to demonstrating their skills before an industry review board to receive their certified massage therapist designation. The programs are designed so any student will be able to fully run their own business upon graduation. Every day, each student and therapist has Spring Renewal's mission statement in mind: To serve as a catalyst in helping others achieve their physical, emotional and spiritual goals. Even Freda recites this every day.

As an accepted part of many rehabilitation programs, therapeutic massage has proven to be beneficial to many chronic conditions, as well as relieving stress and tension. Many insurance companies now accept holistic treatments, but the prices at the wellness center are sure not to stress anyone. Varying the type of treatment, one half-hour session starts at $39 while an hour-long, four hand massage can cost up to $115. And unless a specific product cannot be found, only Aveda products are used in the open-year-round facility.

Not only does the holistic center offer massage therapy, but the 4200 square- foot building encompasses yoga classes, alternative health care, aromatherapy and a full service salon.

Spring Renewal Holistic Wellness Center is located in Saugatuck at 3493 Blue Star Hw. 269-857-2602
